Top 5: Why You Should Build Your Own Computer

Have you always been interested in taking things apart and put them back together?  If so, you will find the art of building your own computer to be an enjoyable and maybe even profitable.  Building your own computer can take time and patience, if you install something incorrectly the entire computer will not work and you will be stuck until you take everything apart and start over again.  However, if your still interested in building your own here are my top five reasons to build your own computer:

1. Choose your own components and upgrade immediately for new components.

Do you often look at the pre-manufactured computers and wish you could choose exactly what components you want installed in your computer.  Sure some manufacturers allow you to upgrade certain components for large sums of money, but do you really have a choice of exactly which hard drive will be installed in your computer?  Build your own and you will be in complete control.

2. You can recycle old computer parts to save the environment.

Do you have a garage full of old computers?  You can use some of the basic components from these old systems to build your new computer.  Think about a computer at its basic level, you always need screws and cases.  Reuse what you have to save the landfill and you will save money.

3. No deeming or unintelligent tech support to contact.

When something is wrong with your computer do you dread having to contact tech support.  If the agents are able to speak english fluently, chances are they are not going to be able to assist with the problem and you are going to need to send your computer in for repair.  If you need to send your computer in and do not have a backup, you may be without any computing ability for a week or more.

4. You will not need to send an entire day removing crap-ware from your computer.

Most computers purchased in a retail setting come pre-installed with a hard drive full of software you do not want.  One computer manufacturer will charge you $50.00 USD to not install any of this junk on your hard drive.  If you build your own computer, you can avoid receiving a hard drive full of programs you are never going use.

5. Once you have your own computer built, you may become technical support for everyone you know.

Start your own business.  Once your friends and family learn that you built your own computer, they are going to be calling you all the time with computer questions and concerns.  Some people may even want you to build a new computer for them.  Charge for your services and soon you will earning enough money to purchase the necessary parts for your next computer.

Once you become proficient at building your own computer, no one will be able to tell a computer system you build from one of the big name brand computers.  The only different will be a large logo on the front.
